Beach Resorts and Golf Developments on the Costa Calida
A decade ago most of the development which took place on the southern Costa Blanca was centred on Torrevieja while the Mar Menor was ignored - despite its obvious attractions, such as the clear blue waters of this inland sea, its many sandy beaches and small attractive towns. This is no longer the case, and the area - given easier communication in the form of the new A37 motorway from Alicante to Cartagena and the expansion of San Javier airport - is now much sought after.
We have mentioned the development that took place, and indeed is still taking place, slightly further to the north, where - with a few exceptions - vast soulless estates have sprung up with little thought for the amenities that people require apart from a roof over their head and, of course, sun. Already these developments are having their problems, caused, in the main, by a lack of investment in public infrastructure by the local town halls and, because of their size, the sheer anonymity of these locations.
We feel we have overcome this by selecting developments that are being constructed close to 'real' Spanish towns, developments that have easy access to the beaches of this area where a reasonable infrastructure is already in place, developments with green areas and access to leisure activities such as golf and sailing.
We have already said proximity to a Spanish town is of the utmost importance as you are then in a position to take advantage of the vast improvements to the facilities available in these small towns created ironically in the main from the vast increase in contributions to local taxes by ex-pats.
You will therefore note as you pick your way through the information contained in our brochure that all of our developments, apart from the golf urbanisations which are virtually self-contained, have this 'location factor' in common.
We have regular low-key inspection flights to the area, so if you like what you see why not come and see for yourself, either on one of our own assisted visits or by appointment when visiting the area.
